Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackVERY DEMOCRATIC. The results of my leadership style are: Group is in charge of decisions; boss is coordinator, group makes any rules. The results of my followership style are: Self-starter, likes to challenge new things by him or herself. I am a democratic leader. Goes along with the style of leadership I’ve grown up knowing in the USA.
I found that I am a moderately participative, in my leadership style and followership style. This means that I like to have a group consensus on what the boss decides; therefore, the boss makes suggestions and some rules and my fellow workers and I decide what would work best for us in the work environment. I feel this is very fitting for me because in my work environment I like to do what’s best for the clients and workers and definitely follow whatever guidelines my boss tells me.
In my followership style I am an independent worker and don’t need close supervision, I just need a little feedback from my supervisor. This suits me as well because I feel I am a great independent worker but I also work very well in groups. I do not care for my supervisors to watch every action I make. I do feel it is necessary for my supervisors to give me some sort of feedback on how I am doing and if there are any changes they think I need to make.

according to the test on the leadership book by mary ann anderson i am moderately autocrit in follow ship and a mixture of auto crit and democratic for my leadership skills. i think this is true. for followship i announces decisions nut i always want a second opinion and ask questions. i can work independently but i also like feedback to perfect my work.
for my leadership i scored a mix. i like to moderately participate. i like to work independently in work i am confident in. i like challenges, and i like feedback. i also like to give feedback so others can improve.
Renewal of License
In the state of California Licensed Vocational Nurses need to renew there license every two years with satisfactory completion of continued education. The state will send a notice about six weeks prior to your expiration date to remind you that you need to renew it and pay the fees. You also have to notify if you have had any delinquencies or convictions since the last time you renewed. You also have up to four years to renew it and pay all the fees. If you pay or renew it within the first 30 days you only have to pay the “timely” fee otherwise you have to pay extra fees for sending in lat, and the later you send it the more fees you have. When you renew you have the options of renewing as active nurse or inactive, depending if your working or not.
Leadership/Followship Test
In regards to our test for both of them it described me as ‘Mixed’. I am good at being a Leader if I was put into that position and needed to be in charge of others. Yet I am also a good team player and good at working under someone’s command. I am a very flexible person but easy to work with.

In developing thinking skills, my style was described as Independent worker, doesn’t need close supervision, just bit of feedback and it also described me as a mixed leadership style. I can relate with this result since I concider myself as person that is open to new ideas and always thankufll for positive or negative feedback from ideas that I have implemented on a job enviroment.
my overview about leadership is that it allows you to find your place as eighter what kinds of feedback and direction you might need. for example during the followship test, i am an independent worker, dont need close supervision, and just a bit of feedback. According to this i believe it to be very accurate. i am someone that is able to work independantly and doesn’t need constant supervision. but at the same time i am able to work together as a group with a team. According to my leadership test i am in the mixed leadership catorgory which is where boss suggests ideas and consults groups, and many expectations to regulations. i like this theory because the boss involves everyone in the suggestions instead of just giving orders. this makes job and everything else so much easier. overall this leadership/followship test was a great excercise. it was good to be able to know what catigory you fall within.
My results say that I can be the type of leader who can give orders, and someone who consults with the group in regards to decision making. I think this is a beneficial technique as a leader because it can promote efficiency in the workplace. Listening to the members of the group is a fabulous way of creating rapport with them.
After reading Chapter 9 and taking the leadership and followership test in the Leadership and management text book I realized that I am a “mixed” leader and a “moderately participative follower”. I feel being a leader is a dynamic task and can not be overly ridged. At the same time a lack of discipline and guidance as a leader could also lead to disastrous results. As a follower I am an independent worker that requires constant positive feedback from my leader and group to assure I am adhering to our mission.
I feel that I would be a participate leader. I think I could set some rules for my coworkers that would allow them to be flexible and give them their own freedom and responsiblities. I also think that I would always want things done early which could not be conceived by my coworkers as a good trait; I have a tendency to repeat duties to coworkers so they complete their task. I also get nervous when ordering people around cause I feel like I don’t have authority over them especially cause of the age factor; I feel like I shouldn’t order someone that is double my age even if I was in a position with more responsibilitties and authority.
I think I am both a leader and a follower depending on the circumstances. I can be autocratic if warranted like giving discipline to subordinates. A leader needs to be tough and firm on his decisions, never allowing himself to flip-flop. But I can also bend strict rules to accomodate problems and opinions of members. Delegation for me is an important function of leadership as long as there is a system maintaining accountability and responsibility. I am open to suggestions beacuse I want to be heard too. Bottom line is the bottom line, at the end of the day and if the tasks are performed, I could care less if I was the leader or the follower.
The leadership and followership test help me understand the many different styles of leaders and followers there are. That you can be a leader and also be a follower. On my test I received a score of 2.9 which placed me on the mixed description which is both a leader and a follower. I can accommodate considering the circumstance or situation that I or we might be going through. I can take charge but also can stop and let someone else take charge when needed. I can function well with groups but also work well independently. This is a great attribute because you involve everyone and gain people’s trust, which helps when u need to lead and be leaded.
My score for my leadership test suggest that I am a “mixed” type, in which I make exceptions to regulations and consult groups. I find this to be far off the mark. I have been in many management positions. I rarely, if ever, make an exception to the rules. Me and my team always follow everything through to the letter. I do this because it makes both me and my team the most efficient group in an area. I personally cannot stand inefficiency. If the machine has a single weak spot, the machine will break down, ruining our efficiency. By immediately acknowledging our faults and where we can improve, that enables me and my team to become efficient once again. I rarely consult groups. Allowing total group discussion will eventually promote a system that has free floating rules and expectations, ultimately slowing the group down, breaking morale down, and confusing the hierarchy of leadership. My style may sound ruthless, and at times it can be when something is not working correctly, but it does encourage and transform any team of workers into a highly efficient, cohesive unit that will get any job done.
My follower score was also mixed. Again, I disagree with this. I am sociable when I need to be, but typically I prefer to work alone as much as possible. I like to be given an order from a boss, and I will make it happen, no matter what. The only time I will not follow through is when the order goes against company policy, seriously violates ethics, or is illegal. I do like to participate in collaborative groups. It helps me make sure I’m not overlooking something or if I may be approaching the situation from the wrong angle. Once I know what I am to do, I make it happen. I enjoy finding my own way to make the job get done, no matter what.
Senior 09
I am known to be mixed, boss suggests ideas and consults groups, many exceptions to regulations, mixture of above and below, I would think that is totally true, I am a very independent person but equally dependent as well. I am a team leader and love to help others if they need it. And I hope it goes vise versa. I usually have goals by the end of each day and expect to finish it by the end of the day hopefully. I don’t like to argue or get into conflicts that are non-negotiable, because to me that just means the other person is not listening or does not care about my feedback. Communication is a key factor to getting things done on time and appropriately.
Discipline is important in an organization. A leader should be a role-model to the subordinates to be effective & functional. Having a leader in an organization whom other members elect plays a viable role in coordinating leadership, their activities and to represent the group to the rest of the organization. I learned that people do the best job when they are allowed to exercise self-control because people are responsible for themselves and no one else. It is necessary for the leader to effectively communicate to the subordinates in order to relate the tasks to be done, to know ways how tasks can be accomplished.
As a leader the ability of getting and giving information is most important. The leader ought to be the group member whom the other members select to coordinate their activities and to represent the group to the rest of their organization.
After taking the “Leadership & Followership” style test, I discovered that both my leadership & followership styles are categorized as “Mixed”. I believe that this score interpretation is accurate of the way I lead and follow because I like to be part of balanced decisions made. This is a beneficial way of leading because it is one that allows the concerned group to freely share their ideas equally. Furthermore, I believe that this style of following is a well-balanced style with relying on teamwork as well as being fully capable of working independently.
ON LEADERSHIP: By Joey Curran
I lead in a very democratic way according to Leadership and Management as a Professional concept. Democratic leadership allows all employees of a business no matter what position or how much you are being paid to participate in the company’s performance. I prefer to challenge employees by getting them involved in all areas of decision making, instead of placing one authoritative leader to make and carry out all decisions. Therefore managing employees would be easier, knowing all decisions have come from the staff. Ultimately giving the staff a sense of ownership in the company and making it worthwhile to strive for excellence on a daily basis.
