Little Suzie was born 13 weeks premature weighing one pound, fourteen ounces and eleven inches long. This is an excellent video of a respiratory therapist (RT) suctioning the preemie baby. Daddy is videoing the procedure. Pay attention to the detail of how the suctioning is done and how small the baby is. Baby Suzie may have many complications as a result of being born early and she will be in the neonatal unit for several months. The parents are ecstatic with their little one and thank God for her even though they know there may be many obstacles in her life. When working pediatrics/NICU you are working with the family unit who may be emotionally drained and one of your big jobs will be providing emotional support.
